Velakanni is a small town in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. It is a small town and is famous for Roman Catholic Shrine named Our Lady of Good Health. This church was built in the 16th century, and has undergone various miracles making it as the most sacred shrine in the town. The unique feature of this shrine is the Gothic style architecture and the white paint covered on it. Every year, the church celebrates 10 days festival celebrated in the month of August and September attracting lacs of devotees. Velakanni has some good tourist attractions like: Church of our Lady of Velakanni, Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health and Velakanni Beach.
