About Mayiladuthurai

Mayiladuthurai is a small town in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. It is 281 kms away from the capital Chennai. Mayiladuthurai is one of the 274 Saiva holy places in the world. The town is well known for beautiful temples built around. Tow of these are- Mayuranathaswami and Dakshinamoorthi Temple built in Dravidian style. Apart from these temples, there are Punukeeswarar Temple, Sri Kasi Viswanathaswami Temple and few others. Mayiladuthurai is also famous for the dance festival called Mayura Natyanjali which is conducted at Mayuranathaswami Temple, and is quite similar to Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival.
